Sgrios Mass: Nostalgic Decay

Not long ago we discussed the importance of decay in the natural world. The world is alive right now, and so rich is it’s bounty -- the cycle of death and life is working overtime to keep up. Fruit swells on the vine, then drops to the darkness below to nourish and provide as it rots. But we, as Aislings, do not live entirely in the physical realm. We have been blessed with a spark, with divine inspiration. We are able to employ our free will and imaginations to manifest our dreams; our minds are more powerful than the destructive force of the mighty Creants. Deoch placed great faith in us to honor us with this incredible gift.   We, Aislingkind, are powerful and we shape the world as we move through it. Our swords feed the earth on the remains of the dead and in turn She gifts us with continued life. This is a tenuous and complicated balance of ecosystems which are so entwined that famine or feast on one side of Temuair are echoed across the country. It’s easy for u

Sgrios Mass: The Goddess of Compassion

A Sgrios Mass from Paramour & Vaegar Vaegar's Sermon A hearty hello to all who have managed to join us today. My name is Vaegar Kael'thas. Our wonderful Lady Paramour has asked me to assist in mass this day, and it is beyond my honour to do so. Many Deochs ago, I was a priest of Glioca, but I had felt a deeper part of me calling to a different purpose. At the time I could not place a finger on it, but as the time went on, the feeling seemed to get stronger and stronger. Finally, a brush with death had let me meet our Lord Sgrios for the first time, and that is when it all became clear to me. For in my fear and time of need, my Goddess was nowhere to be found to me, but I felt reassured still. I had finally found the source of this deeper feeling I had been feeling. It was Sgrios, catering to the darkness inside my soul. Although there were no words spoken aloud, I had a deep conversation of enlightening with Sgrios. From that moment on, I knew my purpose

Sgrios Mass: Spring and Decay

I spend so many of my waking hours here in these ruins that it often feels, by the time I emerge, I have completely forgotten what it feels like to walk in the light of the day. Days, sometimes entire weeks pass in this candle-lit chamber as I sit at my humble desk troubling my eyes with some document or another. On the occasions that I have to leave the safety of the temple -- usually to fetch some dusty tome from the capital -- I'm often surprised to find that time has pressed it's influence on the world without regards to those of us who toil in the darkness.   So imagine my surprise, then, to find when I stepped out of this castle that the world has exploded with vibrant life and color. The barren arms of the old elms, looking as forlorn as the skeletal condemning arms of a corpse are now green harbors for the small, innocent critters of the woods. Where the grey hopeless skies of winter once reigned overhead is now a vast blue frontier of possibility. Po

Sgrios Mass: The Dubhaimid

Today I would like to turn an eye to the dark beasts who patrol the cursed halls of this very castle; the Dubhaimid. I will be examining a dusty tome borrowed from the Library of Loures written by Aisling scholar Deskar, " The Society of the Dubhaimid ". For those seeking supplemental information, I will post the material on our temple board.   While Deskar's work, which leans heavily on the observations of Teirsaes, is the most complete study of the Dubhaimid as a species, it is well over one hundred Deochs old at this point and, as such, is not privy to the developments and discoveries that have been made since Deoch 9. As he says himself in the text, this work should be taken with a grain of salt and much of it is assumed through observations without science or study.   That being said, let's talk about these nightmarish forms that chase me through the grim corridors of this castle whenever I seek asylum here. The naked eye is the only tool ne
