Sgrios Mass: Van's Used Book Club I - Seals of Darkness by Chogal
So we were talking of having a more informal Mass that was not so dogmatic, but more historical; that focused on one of the scrolls every week. It just so happens I had a Mass already written that kind of leaned that way. So that is what I am giving tonight. But that is why I am calling it the "Used Book Club." Tonights time slot is just that, old scrolls we all learn about for new Aislings; a lot of these new sparks have never heard of these things. So instead of preaching every single Mass this time slot we will just go over a scroll on our list. Discussion can be after Mass is cast. Does everyone like this idea? We need newer Aislings to come for sure.
*thunderous agreeance*
Alright, well let us get started with our first official Sgrian Mass and Used Book Club.
Amen.
Altor Devon Dubach was born around Danaan 1785. Growing up and throughout some of his adult life, he was a devout worshiper of Grinneal, the "god of life." But, The appearance of the dubhaimid changed everything. A gradual downfall in the Church of Grinneal took place.
The dubhaimid, growing in power, replaced the realm of Grinneal with that of their own.
In Danaan 1813, faith in Grinneal all but ceased. Without worshipers, his sphere of influence overrun- Grinneal for all practical purposes disappeared. Darkness spread throughout the land.
But Altor would not be deterred. He stood in his temple, Praying incessantly,
until literally the walls fell down around him - and darkness overtook him. True power was revealed to him and he became a Minister of Darkness. A Prophet of Chadul. For the next 150 Danaans he spread the glory of Chadul, recruiting an army of darkness.
When the Great Wars began in Danaan 1980, he gathered his followers to him and made two prophecies foretelling the Second Coming of the Lord of Darkness.
He predicted the realm of Chaos and that Necromancy would sway the balance of light and dark.
The Second Prophecy is as follows:
"The death of the last guardian will make a stir that will echo throughout the realm. The last seals will be weakened and the Great Lord will stir within. The fragments of Chaos will be loosed and the world will be wrent with destruction. The balance of power will be overturned, and the Ulitimate Darkness will Awaken."
Chilling,
powerful,
foreboding.
Many believe this talks of our times. Of the Medenian Seals, and the resurgence of Necromancy. But lets look at how this pertains to us as individuals.
What can Altor teach us? He was not greedy. He did not seek power only for himself but knew that by making himself and his flock more powerful, that he would be ready when the time came to fight. He was a prophet and he surely knew war was inevitable. He was strong in his convictions even as a Priest of Grinneal Holding fast to his beliefs till the bitter end. ONLY when a greater power was revealed did he pledge himself to another God. Never was he referred to as a madman or a fool or a charlatan. Patient, methodical, pious, and certainly perseverant. Qualities all of us have or crave as Sgrians almost Sgrian Virtues, one would say.
Anyway.
That is our little story on Altor Devon Dubach.
