Sgrios Mass: Core beliefs of the followers of Sgrios - The role of Death, Rot and Decay in Temuair.

Mass as presented by Minister Peneann

Let us first offer a prayer to Sgrios, a prayer that was inspired by a fellow Sgrios believer who's known by the name Phever, and in which I would like to thank for inspiring me so.

Though we dwell in Death, Rot and Decay these aspects still all respect life, for they only come when the time is nigh upon us, and breath can not be taken again, and the rotted walls shall crumble to dust, but upon doing so they reveal unto us a new fresh path ahead us, so that we may strive to ever push forward unto this world and discover more than once was. It is with this belief in mind that we offer up this prayer unto Sgrios, so that we may not take for granted what we are given. Amen.

On this very day I would like to depart unto you all a subject that, as a follower of the Sgrios faith, lays close to my heart.  The subject that I speak of is: The role of Death, Rot and Decay in temuair, in which Sgrios presides over.  It is because of the core divine virtue of Sgrios that many Aislings believe Sgrios to be an evil god bent on the destruction of all of Temuair.  I say unto those that believe so this: you are wrong, so very very wrong.  It is true that Sgrios’ core divinity is that of destruction, for Sgrios dwells in death and rot and decay, but that is not the whole picture when it comes to the cycle of nature and what Sgrios actually represents.  It is like a coin toss, the coin flies through the air spinning until it lands or is snatched from the air, and when one looks upon the coin they see only the bright side of the coin that is facing them.  There are many that forget that on the other side of the coin is another perspective entirely, cloaked in shadow and hidden away.  That is the very thing that Sgrios is, the other perspective hidden in shadows and cloaked in mystery away from the sight of others.  One can see this in the fact that our temple is not like the others, it is hidden in the dark corners of Dubhaimid Castle away from the main path.  Sgrios faithful are ones who dwell on the other side of the spectrum, not because we wish to attack from the shadows, but because we are the perspective others wish not to dwell upon.  It is also for this reason that my message is important to share to those whose minds are open to the understanding of such a principle.

Let me take a moment and mention our ally, Deoch, and expand upon some known knowledge.  Deoch created the spark that we Aislings have within us, it is the reason we have a will and the reason we were given life upon this world.  Deoch is an ally for many reasons, one such reason is that both Sgrios and Deoch came from a realm in which, many deoches ago, Chadul ruled over in direct opposition to Danaan.  It is also true that we have a sort of symbiotic relationship, for Deoch created the very spark that Sgrios feeds upon when we take a fatal blow and must return to the land of the living.  Sgrios leaves us with his mark when we return to the land of the living because he takes a small nibble from our spark, and in doing so gains enough nourishment and power to allow us aislings to return to the land of the living.  It is no coincidence that it is so, for sgrios plays a crucial role in the cycle of life and death and rebirth. He is there as a reminder for us to not take life for granted and yet also saves us from fading into oblivion if we have the courage to come back and try again.  Sgrios is the darker side of the coin of the cycle of nature, we are the faithful that recognize that Sgrios is a necessary barrier between life and death.  Think about this for a moment: what if, when you took a fatal blow, Sgrios didn't pull you into his realm and allow your return to life for the small price of a nibble of your spark.  What void would we find ourselves facing if not for that fact? Would we meet Chadul and be utterly destroyed, never to return to the land of the living?  What if there was simply nothing on the other side, would simply be reabsorbed back unto the very thing in which we originally came from.  This is only one perspective of the cycle in which others are unwilling to perceive, they think Sgrios evil, but he fulfills a natural role in which the other Gods dare not tread.  In doing so Sgrios is secretly protecting us, and also honors our alliance with Deoch by protecting the spark that he created, even if to facilitate our return Sgrios must feed on a small part of that very spark in order to gain the power to return us to the living.  I must say I have more to add to this subject, but I have already held many of you up for far too long as is, and so I'll save further expansion for another day.

Now with all the knowledge departed upon you all about Sgrios’ role in the larger cycle of life and death, I beseech you to apply the teachings from today’s mass to this prayer this time, to truly grasp it.
Amen.

And now with that wrapped up, I shall cast mass for all to receive, please do not forget to ask poor old Griem about your bonus mass reward afterwards, he could use some engagement now and then after all.
Also, if you have any questions about the subject matter that I held mass on, even if you have a different opinion and would just like to share that opinion, please come see me afterwards.

One at a time though.... I'm getting quite old and only have the attention for one on ones.
