Let us first take a moment to acknowledge the accomplishments of a couple Aislings in our trinity. Tyl , who has been a fixture of the temple, has ascended to the rank of Priest here in our humble shrine. We are very proud to welcome him into the clergy. Additionally, over in the temple of Deoch, Priestess Inuyoko has taken her first step into the high clergy with her role as Cleric of Deoch, which is a tremendous feat. All of Temuair will benefit from the light these Aislings bring to our temples.  ------ Deoch gifted us with more than the inspiration to transcend lives of mediocrity when he chose us as bearers of his spark; he also gifted us with a sort of immortality. Wounds and illnesses that would rend lesser beings naught but food for decay simply give us an audience with Sgrios’ great judge, Nyarlathotep. Are the splendors of nature reserved for the worshippers of Cail? Many crook an eyebrow when they find out that I am most inspired when I’m surrounded by nature; be it beneath the shade of a mighty oak, or standing with my feet in the gentle caress of a stream or lake.        Tonight we'll be talking about "The Second Affront to Luathas." These are the written excerpts. It is part of the tome chronicling the Shadow Wars and the role the Academi Arcanus played in it. I'll present the dates to let you keep track.   Today we come together not only to mourn, but to reflect - to pause, to look inward, and to acknowledge one of the most universal experiences of life: death. Death has always walked beside life, not as an enemy, but as a teacher. It teaches us that every moment is part of a larger story - one that none of us escapes, and yet all of us share. It reminds us that to live is not to grasp, but to let go - again and again. In facing death, we are called to a deeper awareness of life’s meaning and its fragile, chaotic nature. Though death marks a departure, it is not merely an end. It is a return - a release from pain, a letting go of burdens and uncertainties that define so much of our existence, and a quiet transition into stillness. For some, it may be a homecoming; for others, ascension towards greatness. In every case, death reminds us that life was never meant to go on forever - and that its finiteness gives...

As the population grows, so too does the number of Aislings seeking to join our fellowship. It is only natural that our numbers also ebb and flow with the cadence of the greater population, though it is quite uncommon for there to be such an influx of sparks that are as unfamiliar with the pantheon as we find today. As such, many of our prospective seekers are ignorant of the relationship Sgrios has with the octave - which is totally acceptable; one’s path of worship is a journey that takes a lifetime to walk, and I don’t expect anyone taking their first step to know what lies miles into the unknown. In an attempt to illuminate this harrowing road and usher the new generation on their way, I thought perhaps we would talk, today, about Sgrios’ enemies.      Lets start with a few definitions. Sectarianism , refers to strong divisive, loyalty to a particular group. It prioritizes the sects beliefs and practices to the detriment of others.         Now " syncretism " is the amalgamation of different religions and schools of thought. When religions meet and mingle they combine ideas and beliefs into new ones. But not always without controversy.         Now lets jump right into it. In Danaan 1980, during the Great War, there was a schism in the temple of Ceannlaidir. There were other temple schisms in the lands at this time, but this one had Ceannlaidir aligning with a neutral god. I like to think that, as Sgrians, we have a keen finger on the pulse of our fleeting mortality. By finding a home in the darker corners of Temuair, we have become sharply aware of the tenuous grip we have on our precious lives. Each wound that shrinks to a scar; each illness that sets us on our backs, each passing deoch that brings us closer to our end - these are bells that chime the song of Sgrios, and with each brush with death, we devote ourselves anew to His service. But not all signs of death are so obvious; there are ways in which we sacrifice our lives without the drama of disfiguring scars; without coughs; without pain; without calendars.   So we were talking of having a more informal Mass that was not so dogmatic, but more historical; that focused on one of the scrolls every week. It just so happens I had a Mass already written that kind of leaned that way. So that is what I am giving tonight. But that is why I am calling it the "Used Book Club." Tonights time slot is just that, old scrolls we all learn about for new Aislings; a lot of these new sparks have never heard of these things.   How many are the faces of death? To know them all would require more time than a life provides, and more wisdom than one can obtain in this time. So myriad are the ways in which one can experience death, that this kaleidoscopic lens sits like a grim jewel at the very heart of our faith. The many facets, cut with reckless precision, are set to catch the light no matter which angle it is held - as such, so, too, is the foundation of our faith. Because the grim reality of death can be approached from nearly any conceivable direction and still offer the shimmering beam of salvation, we also find that those who seek Sgrios as their Lord are also following His dark invitation from a multitude of different origins - having tested many worshipers in my day, I can say with confidence that, when I ask what drew them to our shrine, no one has ever given me the same answer as another.
