Sgrios Mass: Call of Sgrios

Mass by Priestess Sinna Liandra I woke from dreams of death, and wondered what they meant. The nightmares made me ponder, from where were they sent? I asked those around me, an omen, so they said. But doubt their words, I did, as I went back to bed. Soon I woke once more, with clarity that day. Called, I felt I was, to the God of Decay. Many call him evil, a vile malediction. They fear the unknown, we all face Destruction. I wandered to these halls, where many Aislings dread, past wings and claws of darkness, and bodies of the dead. A priestess greeted me, a smile on her face, "How may I help you? What brings you to this place?" "He is most important," I then said to her, "I wish to give my thanks, as a worshiper." We spoke of the gods, to test what I knew, she soon determined, that my faith was true. Now I stand before you, strong in my beliefs, he gives us life, and a scar he then leaves. Sgrios Mass: Our Sparks Returned

It's an all too common narrative: a group of adventurers meet an untimely end and, upon reawakening at the inn of their home town, curse the day Sgrios darkened our land for the disfiguring scar he left in their lapse in mortality. How sad that these eager aislings curse the name of their own savior rather than exalt His name; for it is only through his gracious compassion that most of us are able to stand here today, alive with our sparks still burning as bright as the day Deoch ignited them. Aye, stop a moment to consider the fate that should await those who fall in battle should Sgrios fail in his servitude. Consider, please, that those who visit our Lord in His realm have, by no fault of Sgrios, just died! Yes, it is our hubris, our overconfidence, our eagerness to achieve glory that drives us into these accursed dens of peril and yet, when we fail to match our opponents and fall in battle, it is Sgrios we blame when we awaken to fight once more. Before yo...

Sgrios Mass: Prerogative of Death

Death is predictable. It comes for every soul without exception, and leaves no spark untouched. In this pursuit we find little excitement - survey the landscape and know that all will, in time, come to pass. Friends and foes. Enemies and lovers. Each will, eventually, pass into the spirit realm some day without a return. In death we find, of all things, order. We would find the same maddening control should our lifespan stretch eternally. For, even Gods come to pass eventually.   Sgrios is so often heralded as the God of Death, but is it so? It is more accurate though to praise his influence over decay and chaos; the realms of which he reigns supreme and his influence is unchecked. Because we so often find that death comes unannounced and decay makes itself known before the body of the deceased finds it's home beneath the soil, and because He keeps vigilant watch  over the gates  of the spirit realm, Sgrios is often crowned the ruling God of Death. ...
